Engagement and Person-Centered Care
Engagement and Person-Centered Care
Recorded on: 05/17/2018
Engagement and person-centered care: How to meet needs and preferences of all residents. An introduction to the PELI and other evidence based tools that promote purpose and quality of life.
The focus on person-centered care is a philosophy that recognizes “knowing the person” and honoring individual preferences. However, assessing, integrating and communicating information about nursing home residents’ important preferences across care team members is difficult. Not all care team members have access to electronic medical records in order to access resident preferences as well as high staff turnover are barriers to communicating preferences. In this webinar, participants will be introduced to the Preferences for Everyday Living Inventory (PELI), which is a validated and reliable way to assess resident/client important preferences.
Attendees will leave this session with access to downloadable templates, training videos, and tip sheets for using these resources in their own organizations.
Join Linked Senior and Dr. Katy Abbott to learn:
- How to utilize the PELI to assess resident/client preferences
- How to communicate resident/client preferences around leisure and recreation, as assessed with the PELI, via PAL cards
- Why preferences matter and to hear about resources for educating residents/clients and families about person-centered care
Attendees will leave this session with access to downloadable templates, training videos, and tip sheets for using these resources in their own organizations.
