Linked Senior Announces Launch of Old People Are Cool Campaign

Posted on September 12, 2017

WASHINGTON DC, Tuesday September 12th 2017: – Linked Senior (www.linkedsenior.com), the leading therapeutic engagement platform for the senior care market, announced today the launch of the Old People Are Cool campaign.

The initiative is meant to combat ageism and raise the profile of the senior care industry by starting the discussion about why older adults are as “cool” as anyone else.

While a student at Georgetown University, Charles de Vilmorin, founder and CEO of Linked Senior, interviewed about 200 people for a thesis about nursing homes, and he had a disturbing realization. “We as a society are much more aware of how a prison or school functions, than a nursing home,” he says. “People on the street will know more about any other environment. It’s a black hole in our society.” This is a serious impediment to attracting more workers to the field of aging services, which is facing a serious and growing workforce crisis. Old People Are Cool is meant to start conversations about the important work care partners do each day in serving older adults so they can enjoy meaningful and quality lives based on their unique interests and needs.

The supporting website offers a manifesto, an invitation to take an oath to fight ageism, a store where the benefits are given to the Alzheimer’s Association and a blog where “cool” older adults are interviewed.

The initiative is meant to be open to anyone interested in the dialogue and values it promotes.
