Recorded on: 07/23/2019

Live Webinar: Tuesday, July 23rd from 1pm – 2pm EST

Hear from Jennifer Brush, MA, CCC/SLP, an award-winning Dementia Educator, author and consultant.

The physical environment is an important tool for helping individuals to engage in life and be independent. Older adults and people with dementia need special modifications to the home or long-term care environment to assist them in functioning at their best possible level. Although they may look aesthetically pleasing, unfortunately many long-term care settings are not designed to enhance functioning. In this presentation you’ll learn how to incorporate simple, low cost evidenced based design guidelines into your community to help residents thrive.

By the end of the presentation you will be able to :

  • Identify effective characteristics of signage and wayfinding cues that enable older adults to find their way
  • Discuss the best ways to visually organizing space to support independence
  • Incorporate the use of contrast and lighting during daily activities to facilitate engagement
